Advanced Scientific Discussions Video Conference – Code of Conduct
Preamble:
This Code of Conduct is designed to create a welcoming, respectful, and inclusive environment for advanced scientific discussions in our online video conference. By joining the conference, you agree to abide by these policies and acknowledge that violations may result in temporary or permanent removal from the conference.
Respectful Communication:
a. Participants must engage in respectful, polite, and professional communication with others.
b. Personal attacks, insults, or derogatory language will not be tolerated.
c. Disruptive behavior, such as interrupting others or talking excessively, is prohibited.
Intellectual Integrity:
a. Participants must present and discuss ideas based on scientific evidence and principles.
b. Promotion of debunked theories, pseudoscience, or misinformation is not allowed.
c. Participants must be open to critique and willing to engage in constructive debate.
Inclusivity and Non-discrimination:
a. Discrimination based on race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or any other characteristic will not be tolerated.
b. Offensive or inappropriate jokes, language, or comments are prohibited.
c. Participants must respect and acknowledge the diverse backgrounds and expertise of other attendees.
Privacy and Confidentiality:
a. Participants must not share personal information of others without consent.
b. Recording, photographing, or distributing conference content without permission is prohibited.
c. Respect others’ privacy by not sharing links to the conference without authorization.
Enforcement and Strike System:
Strikes will be assigned based on the severity of the policy violation.
a. Minor offenses (e.g., minor disruptions, inappropriate language) will result in a warning and one strike.
b. Moderate offenses (e.g., personal attacks, promoting debunked theories) will result in two strikes.
c. Severe offenses (e.g., discrimination, sharing private information without consent) will result in immediate removal from the conference and three strikes.
Accumulation of strikes:
a. Participants who accumulate three strikes will be temporarily suspended from the conference for a period of 30 days.
b. Participants who accumulate five strikes will be permanently removed from the conference.
Enforcement and Reporting:
a. Moderators will monitor the conference for policy violations and assign strikes accordingly.
b. Participants are encouraged to report violations to moderators or conference organizers.
c. In cases of disagreement, an appeal process will be available, wherein an impartial committee will review the case and make a final decision.
